Postpartum Style: Tunic Top

Top: c/o Lulu's (similar here and here) // Skirt: Windsor (similar here) // Shoes: Forever 21 (similar here) // Watch: Kate Spade // Necklace: eBay // Nails: Essie Blossom Dandy // Eyes: Stila Magnificent Metals in Metallic Dusty Rose

If I was only allowed to wear one top during the postpartum period, it would probably be a tunic top like the one I'm wearing here. They drape away from your stomach but you still look cute and put together. Another postpartum essential is the maxi skirt. If you're like me (and most women), you're not going to be ready to jump right back into your pre-pregnancy jeans the minute you get back from the hospital. I'm also hesitant to buy a bunch of jeans that fit me right now because they probably won't fit for very long. Maxi skirts are a great alternative. Plus, they're perfect for spring no matter whether you've just had a baby or not.

In some ways, having two children has been easier than I expected. That's mostly because Eve has been such a cute, helpful big sister and Lily has been a good sleeper. However, the past couple of days have been a little more rough. Eve was kind enough to pick up a cold and to share it with the rest of the family. For me, this has meant dealing with two little girls with very stuffy noses who both want to be cuddled and held continuously. For John, this has meant getting to wear a surgical mask at work all day. John says, "it's uncomfortable but it doesn't matter because [he] does it for the fashion"... and also because it makes him "feel like Bane from The Dark Knight Rises."

  1. Oh no! I hope your girls get better real soon! No one likes a cold, and it's so unfair when babies have to go through it. I took was a huge tunic fan postpartum. I also jumped onto the maxi dress bandwagon. It was the first time I felt right in one and have loved them ever since. Have a wonderful Easter weekend and feel better!

  2. LOL @ wearing the mask for fashion. Your husband is hilarious! I hope you all are feeling a lot better now though. Getting sick, regardless of how minor it is, is the worst!
