Letters to Lily: Four Months

Dear Lily,

We moved at the end of June so I missed writing you a letter when you were three months old. So much has changed since your two month letter!

You are a happy little girl. You are always smiling for mommy, daddy, and your big sister. When we are in the car you just sit and stare at Eve almost the entire time. You seem to think that she's very entertaining (I'd have to agree with you.) Most of the time when you smile you poke your tongue up and touch it to your top lip (like in the picture above.) It's very adorable.

You have started to laugh as well! Sometimes I have to work pretty hard to get a little chuckle out of you. I guess I need to work on my baby comedy routine. You're quite ticklish so that works pretty well most of the time.

You discovered your feet a couple of weeks ago but you haven't really decided if you like them yet. You've only grabbed them a handful of times. I'm sure it will only be a matter of time before you realize how amazing they are... and then decide to stick them in your mouth.

Speaking of sticking things in your mouth, you constantly have something in there. You love to suck  on your hand and even your thumb but we've been trying to discourage that. We try to substitute it for toys and pacifiers but they only satisfy you for a couple of minutes. You take pacifiers a little better than your sister did, but you don't really love them. I guess you don't want to make things too easy for me :)

You also refuse to take a bottle. Just like your sister. That means I can't be away from you for more than two hours. So you come with me almost everywhere. Good thing you're a cute little companion.

You've also started to roll over. You've been rolling from your tummy to your back for a month or so but you don't do it too often. In the past week you've also started to roll from your from your back to your tummy. You mostly do this when you wake up from your naps. In other words, you're getting super buff.

Your sister is a pretty big fan of you. She always talks to you in a baby voice and often calls you "Little Pea" or "Lily Billy." She's struggling to share her toys with you but she also loves you immensely, Whenever she's with other kids, she tells them to come and see her baby sister. She loves to hug you and kiss you but she can be a little rough when she's playing with you. We're working on that.

We love you so, so much! You bring so much happiness into our home!

Love,
Mom

P.S. I have a confession... I cut off the tuft of hair that was on the top of your head. It was a little distracting and I wanted the focus to be on your beautiful little face instead. Your daddy was not pleased with me...

  2. Looks your baby girl is just a week older than mine about (and I'm impressed she had enough hair to cut! Mine is just a little fuzz head). Such a cutie! Love this post, and I'm sure your daughter will love having these letters when she's older.

    1. Thank you! I hope she will like it! Most of her head is just fuzz. There was just one little patch on top where it was about an inch and a half long!

  4. Well if Lily Billy isn't the cutest nickname I've ever heard. (: We have every plan to try for baby number two at the end of next year (2016). At first I was torn because I love my daughter soooo much it's weird to think of splitting that love with another bundle of joy. Since reading your letters to Lily segment I've had an eased mind. Watching my daughter interact with a sibling like that would be more love than I'd know what to do with. (:

    1. Before I had Lily I struggled to imagine how I could love another baby as much as I love Eve. I've come to find it's not really splitting your love, because you don't really have a finite amount of love. Your capacity to love just increases. You'll love the new baby just as much as your first little girl! I'm excited for you to get to experience the sibling interactions! It's the best!
