Platform Loafers and Seated Happy Dances

Cobalt sweater: Forever 21 (similar here)  |  Black vest: Old Navy (current style here)
Jeans:  Marc by Marc Jacobs (similar here)  |  Shoes: Target
Necklace: Kendra Scott via Rocksbox

I've never really been a loafers or oxfords kind of girl. Maybe it's because I had to wear black lace up dress shoes as part of my school uniform in Australia. Maybe it's because I didn't know if I could pull them off. Okay, it was mainly the latter. But when I came across these shoes in Target, the tassels, the platform, the chunky heel, and the clearance price tag convinced me that it was time to give them a try.

Since these shoes are a little out of my comfort zone, I paired them with an outfit that is very in my comfort zone. I could wear a sweater and a vest every day. Especially if the sweater is a gorgeous color like this cobalt one.

See that necklace I'm wearing? It's the Kendra Scott Rayne necklace. I have been eyeing that every time I look through Nordstrom's website. It has a hefty price tag so I've left it in my wishlist, waiting for a special occasion to buy it. When I spied it on Rocksbox's website, I did a little seated happy dance (which involves just the upper body) and then requested it to be included in my next Rocksbox. Other ways I've worn: black vest

  1. Hahahaha gotta love the ole seated happy dance! I've been wanting a necklace like this too. It would look so good with a turtleneck! I can see why you fell for those oxfords. They're awesome.

  3. I don't see myself buying platforms anytime soon. Let's face it, anything that isn't flat is just an accident waiting to happen for me. (; But, I do agree that pairing something bold with something you know works is the best way to try something new! Not kidding you are the first person I've seen rocking the chunky platform that makes me feel like I could attempt it. haha

  9. Sierra, you are very beautiful and the photos are nicely shot, but a pair of jeans with a blue sweater and a black vest isn't really something new and fancy, is it?

    1. Thank you for your compliments. This post wasn't about being new and fancy. It was about how trying something outside of my comfort zone (in this case, my shoes) can be made more comfortable by wearing other items that are "safe." My blog is about my everyday style, so sometimes for me, this means a cute but simple outfit.
